Laura is a hard working single mother that doesn't let her disability get in her way. She is part of a task force going after human traffickers. The alpha unit gets assigned a murder case where they must work with a navy seal team to solve it. Joe is the head of the seal team and the tension between both teams is tense ( alpha unit is an all female task force and the seals are all men ). Alpha unit will have to show the seals that they are not to be messed with. Get in their way and the seals will get squashed. As they dig into the case both teams uncover dark secrets that affects them all.The relationship between Joe and Laura is not instantaneous. It's not light hearted with flowers and rainbows. It's more like a volcano, where it slowly builds up till it explodes. Joe is normally a bit it and quit it type of guy till he met Laura. There's something about her that brings out his protective instincts and the need to constantly be with her drives him wild. Laura has kept the world at arms length for a long time. With a family like she has no one can blame her. They are constantly belittling her about her appearance, her job and her sweet son Cody. With family like this she didn't need enemies. The only ones that truly care about her is her brother Dominick and her team mates. When Joe comes along she didn't trust him right away. He has to earn her trust and worm his way through her defences and into her heart.
Joe is an alpha and his first reaction it to protect. Laura is his equal and wants to be treated as such. He has a battle between his head and his heart. All he knows is that if he loses her, he loses everything.

This was actually the 2nd book by this author that I have read. I read Saving Laura first and really loved it so bought this one to read the beginning of the relationship between Joe and Laura. This book has action, suspense, humor, and, of course, sex....hot sex. That being said, the only reason it has a 4 star rating instead of 5 is because of the proof reading. It really needed to be proof read better. If you can look past that, it is worth the time to read it!
Joe is a Navy Seal and Laura is a detective in a special unit of women only for hunting sex slave traffiking. This was a great read. It relates to what goes on in this world. Laura has to deal with a family who has it in for her and belittles her all the time. She has a 4 year son named Cody who worships his mom. Joe had a huge family, 14 siblings I think and his parents live in Scotland. There is a lot going on in this book, where the seals are trying to help one of their own, and trying to find his sister who has been missing for a few years. Things that happen in this book isn't pretty, but unfortunately its part of the world we live in.
Love the story. Kept me on the edge of the chair. I would recommend this book to everyone. You will love it.

I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters in this book. The grammar, missing or repeated words and punctuation left something to be desired though.
Wow this is absolutely one of the best books I have read in awhile. Its action packed and has mystery to it and of course romance and steamy sex scenes and it's got alot of joking around and found myself laughing out loud. I cant wait for more of these characters.
This is KD Michaels first book in this series, and it is AWESOME!! In this book, you meet a team of women who can kick butt with the best of men, and are darn good at their jobs! A homicide gets assigned to them, and this group of women have to work with a group of Seals. This is Laura and Joe's story.
This story is very well paced and it kept me on the edge of my seat! I hate to ever say too much about the story and ruin it, but suffice it to say, you will LOVE this story and will not be able to wait until the next installment of their story!!
Give this book a try, you will not be sorry!!
